History

Founded as the Parklane Baptist Mission, Parklane Missionary Baptist Church held her first services in Cahokia, Illinois, on December 21, 1968.  God blessed Parklane greatly during those early years.

In the 1980s, the name was changed to First Baptist Church of Cahokia and outreach ministries, a Christian school, and Bible institute were started.  Through the 1980s and 90s, many souls were saved in the church's evangelistic efforts.

In the 2000s, the church experienced a renaissance in spirit, attendance, and outreach while honoring God and bringing people to Jesus Christ.

In 2006, First Baptist members voted to pioneer a new venture for the Lord...First Baptist Chapel.  On April 1, 2007, the first service at First Baptist Chapel was held, with 22 people meeting at the East Belleville YMCA.

In August 2008, the membership of First Baptist Church and Chapel voted to formally integrate the two branches into one ministry under a new name: Gateway Baptist Church of Greater St. Louis.  Our church observed its 50th anniversary in December 2018.

Gateway continues to serve the Lord Jesus from the Belleville/Shiloh/O'Fallon area. God has been so good to us as we have endeavored to serve Him.
